Mission:

To provide students with the world’s best undergraduate education in computer science and software engineering in an environment of individual attention and support.

 

Rose-Hulman's Computer Science and Software Engineering programs are accredited by the Computer Accreditation Commission and the Engineering Accreditation Commission, respectively, of ABET. Our program is the only ABET accredited Software Engineering program in the state of Indiana.

Computer Science and Software Engineering touch nearly every aspect of our lives. You may realize that your cell phone is actually just a small computer, but did you realize that a new car might have as many as 50 microprocessors installed? Computer Science and Software Engineering play a critical role in many assistive technologies (e.g. telecare and screen readers) which improve the quality of life of many individuals. The impact of Computer Science and Software Engineering will only continue to grow. A recent report by the 2020 Science Groupconcludes that computing and computer science will become fundamental to all sciences, particularly the natural sciences.

Job opportunities in Computer Science and Software Engineering are outstanding! In the U.S. there are currently more Computer Science and Software Engineering jobs than all other engineering jobs combined. The Bureau of Labor Statistics predicts that over the next 10 years nearly 1 million new Computer Science and Software Engineering jobs will be added.
