Every CSSE Lab has an HP LaserJet 4200 duplex printer. You can print directly to the CSSE printers over the network.
How do I print directly to a network printer?via Tibia:Accessing the printers through tibia is the simplest way to directly print to the networked printers. - Click on Start -> Run
- Type \\tibia and hit enter, enter your kerberos username/password if prompted
- Double-click on the desired printer (D219, F217, or F225)
- A window will open indicating the successful installation of the printer
via TCP/IP: You may wish to access the printer directly and bypass tibia. This is a more complicated install process, but it can result in quicker spooling to the printer, as it bypasses the tibia server. - Before you install the printer, download the HP LaserJet 4200DN PCL6 driver from HP's site. Extract the file to a folder, remember the path of the extracted folder
- Click on Start -> Printers and Faxes
- Double-click the Add Printer Wizard
- Click Next
- Select Local Printer attached to this computer, and uncheck Automatically detect and install my Plug and Play printer. Click next
- Select Create a new port, and choose Standard TCP/IP Port. Click Next. Click Next on the next screen
- Enter the hostname for the desired printer that you wish to install:
- CSlaserD219.csse.rose-hulman.edu
- CSlaserF217.csse.rose-hulman.edu
- CSlaserF225.csse.rose-hulman.edu
- Click next
- If you entered the printer's hostname correctly, you will see a screen that says Completing the Add Standard TCP/IP Printer Port Wizard. Click Finish. If the screen says Additional Port Information Required, you have entered the hostname incorrectly. Hit Back and verify the hostname.
- Windows will now ask for the printer driver, click Have Disk... Browse to the location where you have extracted the .exe file, and select the .inf. Click Open and then Okay
- Select the HP LaserJet 4200 PCL 6 printer and click Next. Give the printer a name, choose whether or not you want it set as the default printer, and click Next. Click next again, and when it asks if you want to print a test page, select No and click Next. Finally, click Finish
- Be patient as the files copy and the Add Printer Wizard screen closes, it may take a minute
- To ensure that duplexing is enabled, clck Start -> Printers and Faxes, right-click on the printer that you just installed and select Properties.
- On the following screen, go to the Device Settings tab and verify that Duplex Unit is set to Installed. If it is not, enable it and Click OK
